Please join us at our Tuesday, February 11, 2020 support meeting of PFLAG Sedona/Verde Valley. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Sedona Public Library, located at 3250 White Bear Road in Sedona.
Our speaker will be Carolyn Kavanagh. Carolyn is the mother of a transgender daughter, age 32, and has been a member of Sedona/Verde Valley PFLAG for five years. She is a retired public school teacher who taught mostly middle school in Phoenix and Flagstaff for 25 years. Her master’s degree was in education with an emphasis on reading and ESL (English as a Second Language).
PFLAG has become an important resource in Carolyn’s journey to understand the transition from male to female. While the journey has its challenges, she has looked at it as an opportunity to educate herself and others in voicing support as a straight ally. Fortunately, there are many helpful resources in the community that will be shared by our PFLAG members. Carolyn is sharing her story in order to address some of the concerns of transgender parents, as well as to engage the LGBTQIA and straight community.
Please join PFLAG Sedona/Verde Valley in welcoming Carolyn Kavanagh and hearing her powerful and educational story.
After Carolyn Kavanagh’s presentation, we will begin our 60-minute support group sharing and discussion session at 7:35 p.m.
Please mark your calendars and join us at our Tuesday, February 11, 2020 support meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend!
