Please join us at our Monday, July 9, 2018 support meeting of PFLAG Sedona/Verde Valley. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Church of the Red Rocks, located at 54 Bowstring Drive in Sedona.
Our speaker on July 9th will be PFLAG Board member, Mr. Berry Parsons. Berry was born in Texas, but raised in several countries because his father was a U.S. diplomat. Berry moved back to the USA when he was ten years old, but then spent his early teenage years in Tokyo, due to his father’s work.
Both of Berry’s parents were actively involved in the Episcopal Church. Berry was ordained a deacon at Washington Cathedral in 1975 and ordained a priest at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, McLean, Virginia. Berry has a twin brother who is also gay and who lives with his partner in North Carolina.
Berry Parson’s presentation will focus on how things have changed for gay people in many aspects of life, in and out of the Church.
Each quarter, the PFLAG Board of Directors designates a charity or non-profit organization to support. This quarter (May-July), we are sponsoring Angie’s House. Angie’s House is a non-profit organization, owned by Angela Lozano, and consists of ten homes in Cottonwood serving over 100 people. Angie’s House provides housing for qualified residents impacted by addiction, homelessness and mental illness. Donations to Angie’s house may include cash, clothing and household items. You can learn more about Angie’s House and how to make a donation by visiting their website at angieshouseaz.com.
The second hour of our meeting will include our usual support group sharing and discussion session, beginning at 7:35 p.m.
