The Mental Health Coalition Verde Valley – What is it and How Can it Serve the LGBTQ Community?
Barbara Litrell and Rose Boerner from the Mental Health Coalition Verde Valley (MHCVV) will be our speakers at the Monday, August 10, 2015 PFLAG Sedona Verde Valley support meeting at 7:00 p.m. at The Church of the Red Rocks in Sedona.
The MHCVV was established in November of 2013 and includes broad representation of Verde Valley medical professionals, citizen advocates, faith community members and resource providers. The mission of the MHCVV is to “build community support for families and individuals living with mental illness through education, advocacy and community support services”.
Barbara Litrell served on the Sedona City Council from 2010-2014. She is currently facilitator of the Mental Health Coalition Verde Valley and is President of the League of Women Voters Greater Verde Valley. Since Barbara moved to Arizona from New York in 2002, she has been active in numerous community events and projects.
Rose Boerner retired from a multinational pharmaceutical company in 2004 after 28 years of service. She has been the President of NAMI Sedona/Verde Valley (National Alliance on Mental Illness) since 2005. Rose is a member of the Board of Directors of Spectrum Healthcare in Cottonwood since 2011 and has been the Board Chair since January of 2014. She has also been a Member of Mental Health Coalition Verde Valley since its inception in 2013.
