Jennifer Yates is a Sedona resident and is a member of the Board of Directors and Fundraising Committee of the Verde Valley Sanctuary. Jennifer has dealt with and worked through many life challenges. She knew she was lesbian since she was seven years old. Her family was supportive, but it wasn’t easy being a gay teen in high school. Jennifer is also a cancer survivor, was diagnosed with congestive heart failure six years ago and will celebrate 14 years of sobriety on June 25th. She has battled through adversity all her life!
Now, another challenge lies ahead for Jennifer Yates. She will be participating in the sold out inaugural Ironman Association 70.3 Iron Man competition, along with about 2500-3000 other participants, to be held in England on June 14, 2015.
Jennifer is one of 100 people selected worldwide, and the only person selected in the entire USA, to be a part of Gordon Ramsay’s personal GR100 Team representing the Gordon Ramsay Foundation at this Iron Man event. The Gordon Ramsay Foundation raises funds for five different charities: Cancer Research UK, Scottish Spina Bifida Association, Louis Dundas Centre for Children’s Palliative Care, Action Against Hunger and Meningitis Now.
