We are privileged to have Mr. Jackson Pierce as our speaker at the Monday, September 12, 2016 support meeting of PFLAG Sedona/Verde Valley. Jackson, a native of Texas, had a brief visit to Sedona in the mid 1970’s and immediately liked the place as most visitors do. In 2009, he came back to Sedona on a project that over the next three years gave him the opportunity to get to know Sedona and in 2012 he seized the opportunity to move here.
During his time in Sedona he has participated in two Pride Picnics, two Pride Festivals, three Big Gay Art Shows, and multiple St. Patrick’s Day Parades marching with the Sedona/Verde Valley Pride group and the PFLAG group and various other Pride and PFLAG events. He has also served on the Board of Directors of Sedona/Verde Valley Pride.
Jackson Pierce will share the story of his journey from a fundamentalist religious background to acceptance of who his true self has been all along. This journey was not without trials and pitfalls as life often can be.
Jackson Pierce was born into a working class family and raised in small communities in central and west Texas. Jackson has been a husband, a father and grandfather with a diverse background of achievements and professions ranging from the restaurant industry in his younger days to many years in various aspects of the construction industry. He retired from being a home builder in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas and is now pursuing his lifelong work as an artist.
Our meeting will be held at the Church of the Red Rocks, 54 Bowstring Drive in Sedona, on Monday, September 12, 2016 starting at 7:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
